It's cool to be cool.
Not just words to live by, but the mantra that made life at a small lifestyle company in a highly competitive industry survivable. No other environment can quite replicate the feeling that you get working for a startup with a passionate group of talented people. Trying to get a startup off the ground is hard, and a lot of fun hustling hard and making it up as you go along. My time at Nuport taught me that sometimes the best way to learn is to jump in the water and figure out how to swim before you sink to the bottom.
Some illustrated graphic tees that I designed way back when. Looking back on them now, they are right on trend for the early 2000's surf company aesthetic. The most important purpose they serve is as a great reminder of how my career in design started, making tees like these at three in the morning. These projects helped me discover my passion for design.
